St. Helena Hospital's Medical Imaging Department offers complete diagnostic
imaging services, performed by state and nationally registered technologists
and interpreted by an experienced team of radiologists. Our staff includes
technologists and nurses who have an average working experience of more
than 20 years in the medical imaging field.
Procedures offered by our Medical Imaging Department include:
CV Lab: The cardiovascular lab is a state-of-the-art biplane Toshiba
lab. Our cardiovascular lab was the first of its kind in the U.S. for
adult use. It is now one of the West Coast show sites for Toshiba Medical
US. Procedures performed include diagnostic peripheral and cardiac studies.
In addition, qualified physicians in both peripheral and cardiac areas
perform percutaneous transluminal angioplasty, stent placement,
rotoblator and permanent pace maker insertion and electrophysiology
studies..
Diagnostic Imaging: Conventional x-rays can be performed on all
areas of the anatomy on people of any age.
Ultrasound: ARDMS-registered technologists and ARRT technologists
who are qualified to perform studies in all areas of anatomy perform ultrasound
procedures. Procedures include m-mode, color flow and Doppler-flow studies.
Nuclear Medicine: Nuclear medicine procedures are available using
a dual-headed camera. Procedures of this nature require injection of radioisotope
tagged for the specific area to be studied.
Cat Scan: This modality is available using a GE 9800 Quick CT.
Procedures may be performed with or without injection of contrast media.
MRI: Magnetic Resonance Imaging is available on-site. This unit
