The Occupational Therapy Department at St. Helena Hospital provides services
to inpatients, outpatients and transitional care patients, as well as
home care patients. Typical treatments include enhancement of fine motor
skills, safety training in self-care, hand rehabilitation, work conservation
and practical application of body mechanics.
Patients may require occupational therapy for a variety of health problems,
including orthopedic problems, cardiac problems, or injuries resulting
from cumulative
trauma or due to a neurological disease. Staff from occupational therapy,
physical therapy and speech-language therapy work closely together to
provide patients with the best treatment to meet their specific needs.
